Let me just kick off this post by telling you that these two live off the coast of Spain – Marcus, a technical advisor for the Air Force, and Erika, a photographer herself – and I felt cooler just being around them. They contacted me months ago knowing they’d want to be photographed during their home visit to California. We threw around a couple of location ideas but kept coming back to Tahoe knowing that the scenery never disappoints.
The three of us drove around the Fallen Leaf area together, pulling over whenever we passed an open meadow or a flower-sprinkled forest. And then, of course, we ended it with a dip in the freezing-cold-but-completely-worth-it lake. The light was gorgeous, the subjects even more so, and I loved everything about photographing them.
